The Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library are proud to present a band that delivers rousing versions of blues, vintage rhythm ‘n’ blues, and classic rock.
The Donald Thompson Band will perform in the Schechter Auditorium of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library on Sunday at 3 p.m. The band’s colorful stage attire harkens back to the “cool threads” worn by the exciting performers of the genre’s golden era. The band features dynamic vocals, hot guitars, wailing harmonica, and in-the-groove drumming and provides a treat for both the eyes and the ears.
The current members of the Donald Thompson Band are Donald Underwood Thompson (lead vocals), Bill Hunneke (harmonica and vocals), Jason D. Smith (bass and vocals), Bob “Shakin” Aiken (drums) and Lynn Parker (guitar), who is currently sitting in for Chris “Jenx” Jenkins.
For two consecutive years, The Donald Thompson Band was selected to perform on the Smithsonian Institution’s New Harmonies: American Roots Music tour.
Don’t miss this electrifying band full of energy and good-time feeling; you’re guaranteed to clap your hands, tap your toes, and smile during the performance.
