Casino Night at Lenoir Community College is quickly approaching, and the excitement is growing as eight local “celebrity dealers” have been chosen for this event. Tickets are on sale now for the event, which is scheduled for Friday from 7 to 10:30 p.m. in the Culinary Arts Center at LCC.
This event is always fun-filled as many locals come together to help raise funds for student scholarships at LCC. Tables will open at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are just $50 per person. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and attendees will have the opportunity to win one of many fabulous prizes throughout the evening.
Local “celebrity,” John McPhaul, is excited to be involved in this year’s Casino Night. McPhaul is an active member of the LCC Foundation and currently serves on the LCC Foundation Board, as well as several other non-profit boards in Kinston. He and his wife have two boys. McPhaul feels that education is of utmost importance.
“Education is the key to the future,” McPhaul said. “More specifically, higher education prepares you for life.”
Jeanne Kennedy, executive director of the LCC foundation, said, “LCC is thrilled to have John McPhaul as a dealer at this year’s casino night. He is such a valuable asset to LCC and to our community.”
Also joining Casino Night as a “celebrity dealer” is Kinston’s own Brenda Canup. Canup has been an avid supporter of the LCC Foundation, and she has served on the LCC Board of Trustees. She is a former principal of Kinston High School, superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Lenoir County Public Schools, and served as the foundation executive director at Lenoir Memorial Hospital from 2001-2011. She is an active member of Kinston and the surrounding community, and she has always strongly supported education. When asked about her excitement for Casino Night at LCC, she said, “Come play at my table. Blondes have more fun!”
