MOUNT OLIVE | The University of Mount Olive (UMO) will hold a Faculty Recital on Thursday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hazel Waters Kornegay Historic Assembly Hall located at 207 Wooten St.in Mount Olive.

Dr. Alan Armstrong and Dr. Franklin Gross will combine forces for a faculty concert that will feature Camille Saint-Saëns’ famous The Carnival of the Animals. They will be assisted by a small chamber orchestra as Saint-Saëns originally intended for a performance of the work. Armstrong and Gross will perform on two pianos, one of which, a beautiful white Kawai grand, was recently donated to the University by Goldsboro resident Charles Immler. Dr. Dee Clere, professor of English, will recite poetry Ogden Nash wrote for the masterpiece. In addition to the Saint-Saëns, Armstrong and Gross will perform Franz Schubert’s Fantasie for Piano, Four Hands, Op. 103. The recital is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information about the recital, please contact Bill Ford at wford@umo.edu.
