MUSIC FESTIVAL/Beaufort
The 25th annual Beaufort Music Festival will be Friday and Saturday. This free weekend of music is along the Beaufort waterfront and hosts music from all over the east coast. The fun begins at 5 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday. For more information, go to beaufortmusicfestival.com.
BLUEGRASS/Kinston
The Eastern North Carolina Bluegrass Association will have its monthly concert Saturday in the Lenoir Community College Waller Auditorium. South River Band, and Ted Jones and The Tarheel Boys will play. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $7 at the door. Children 12 years old and younger are admitted free. ENC FOSSILS/Goldsboro
Dr. George Oliver Jr. of the Aurora Fossil Museum will present a program on the fossils of Eastern North Carolina at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wayne County Museum, 116 N. William St. A brief discussion illustrated by representative specimens will be followed by a ‘hands-on’ fossil hunt in material supplied by Potash Corp Aurora. Attendees will be able to keep their finds to start or add to their own fossil collections. This program is free and open to the public. MOTHER’S DAY/Washington
Spend a special hour with your mom from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday enjoying nature at Goose Creek State Park. Team up to participate in a wildlife scavenger hunt and then finish the afternoon by making a Mother’s Day card together. Meet at the Environmental Education and Visitor Center.
