World class vocalist Nnenna Freelon will spend an intimate cabaret evening with her audience Saturday at the Community Council for the Arts, 400 N. Queen St. An up close cabaret setting will create a personal atmosphere for 75 solid minutes of Freelon’s jazz vocals. There will be no intermission. Hors d’oeuvres will be available along with beverages and a cash bar beginning at 6:30 p.m. when doors open to the public. “When a Woman’s Fed Up!,” a gospel comedy play written by the late David Payton, will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Kinston-Lenoir County Performing Arts Center on the Kinston High School campus. The play has toured the country to sold-out audiences, has won national acclaim and will feature an all-star cast from the original stage play. The 33rd North Carolina Jazz Festival will be today through Saturday at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside.
