In keeping with the Pepsi slogan, “Our Time Is Now,” music lovers of The Four Knights Band will find that their time is tonight.

The Four Knights will present the third concert in this summer’s Sand in the Streets series on the banks of the Neuse River at Pearson Park. While the original schedule indicates this should be the fourth concert, the Suicide Blonde performance (scheduled twice now) continues to be rained out. There still are hopes of fitting this band into the summer schedule.

Rick Vernon, DownEast Today host, will emcee the evening, sponsored by Minges Bottling Group/Pepsi. The Four Knights Band concert will be Pepsi Night, courtesy of Jeff Minges and the Minges Bottling Group/Pepsi. President/CEO/Chairman Jeff Minges will be on stage to greet attendees and distribute Pepsi memorabilia.

“We are really grateful for Pepsi’s support. They’re right up at the top of our sponsorship list,” said Adrian King, executive director of Pride of Kinston, the downtown revitalization organization which produces the Sand in the Streets series.

“Jeff’s participation has been so ingrained in the Sand planning, particularly in our evaluation a couple of years ago to assess the success of the series. The team, including Jeff, endorsed the formula we’ve been using over the years.”

The Four Knights Band was founded in 1996 with four musicians. It since has expanded to six members. With a wide range of styles, the group offers R&B, Motown, Oldies, beach music and a bright horn section.

The Four Knights Band has toured all over and has become the Pepsi band under the sponsorship of Jeff Minges and the Minges Bottling Group/Pepsi. The distinctive sounds please audiences of all varieties.

Every year since 2004, Kinston’s business leadership has stepped forward to help Pride produce the outdoor concerts, 51 in total through the 2012 season. From the first, they have provided the economic backbone making the concerts possible.

With four new ones added this year, the 2013 sponsor list in large measure mirrors the past, continuing the tradition of support from the business community.

Grab your lawn chairs and blankets, extend positive vibes for clear skies and start early for Pearson Park for an evening of music, excitement and celebration.
