Gospel Consolators to celebrate anniversary

SNOW HILL — Charles Fuller and the Gospel Consolators will celebrate the group’s 53rd anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Greene County Community Center, 814 W. Harper St. Various groups, choirs and soloists also will be featured.

The Consolators have their nursing home ministry, through which they sing to the young and old, a ministry instilled in Fuller’s heart years ago. They play at Christmas, Mother’s Day and other times to show their love for those who are sick.

Fuller, a resident of Snow Hill who grew up in Kinston, is the manager, lead singer and bass guitarist for the group. Other members are Ellen Ryals, George Williams and Lynwood Cotton.

Fuller has been involved with music for more than 30 years, giving God the credit. His music also is in remembrance of his uncle, the late Robert Fuller, and the late John F. Cox, who paved the way for Fuller’s music career.

Fuller hosts a radio show at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday on WLNR 1230 AM. As the group begins to slow down, Fuller is thankful for the ability to sing for so many years and appreciative to the support from so many.

Admission to the anniversary concert costs $10. For more information, call 252-714-4172.
