The Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library and Neuseway Planetarium will host an International Observe the Moon Night. The event will take place on Saturday.

International Observe the Moon Night (IOMN) was created by scientists, educators, and moon enthusiasts from the United States and across the globe. The event has created the opportunity to for people to take notice of the moon’s beauty and share that experience with one another. Through IOMN, the hope is to instill in the public a sense of wonderment and curiosity about the moon.

The event enables enthusiasts to keep up to date with the latest and greatest scientific discoveries about Earth’s nearest neighbor and bring those discoveries to the public.

IOMN has two events; family story time at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library will be dedicated to the moon and outer space and is fun for the whole family. Although the library presents family story time each Saturday at 3 p.m. in the children’s theater, this week, the library will celebrate the moon and outer space at 3 p.m.

On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., the Neuseway Planetarium will host the IOMN in Neuseway Nature Park. The event will consist of games, snacks, planetarium shows and moon observance.

If you have any additional questions or comments about this event, please contact the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library or Neuseway Planetarium.
