Samantha Holland, vocalist, and Sam Zouari, guitarist, will perform a variety of standards, classics, originals, jazz, blues and rock numbers in “Two to Tango.”
This second concert in Grainger Hill Performing Art Center’s Second Sunday Series will begin at 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at Grainger Hill Performing Arts Center, 300 Park Avenue. The show will be performed with no intermission and will be followed by light refreshments.
Holland and Zouari, who met while both were performing on Florida’s cruise ship circuit, are members of a local group called the Roman Sams, which offers a repertoire ranging from country to rock and roll. Holland co-founded the band with Zouari and Jasper David.
A North Lenoir High School graduate and Kinston native, Holland got her start performing in NLHS’s drama program directed by Marian Kennedy. Kennedy’s brother, Ray Kennedy, then owner of Kennedy Entertainment, recruited her to perform on the Palm Beach Princess, where she worked for seven years. She also has performed for many local events and benefits.
A New York City native, Zouari now hails from Sarasota, FL. He has performed with numerous bands from Key West to New York.
Other Second Sunday Series performances include: “Gum Puddin,” country rock, American and traditional “Old Time” Bluegrass, 3 p.m., Nov. 10; “Hymnprov,” with pianist and vocalist Clay Whittington, 3 p.m., Jan. 12; The Ray and Bobby Band, 3 p.m. Feb. 9; and Rick and Jane Vernon, 3 p.m. March 9.
